WELCOME TO THE HOME OF GOOD BEER AND GOOD BREWING.

Founded in 2000 Oakleaf Brewery made its home in the Clarence Wharf Industrial Estate in Gosport, Hampshire, England and brewed both bottled and cask ales, winning many awards for their range of fine beers. Just 16 years later, finding itself struggling to stay financially viable the brewery faced imminent closure until in September 2016 it was purchased by Just Develop It, an investment firm, in an effort to save it. Just Develop It was not the only interested party in saving the brewery from closure. Somewhere in the range of 15 to 20 other inquiries were made but Just Develop Its offer was the highest and therefore accepted.

The decision shortly after the takeover was executed to rebrand the brewery resulted in a name change to Fallen Acorn Brewing Co. The Oakleaf Brewery staff remained working for the brewery under its new management in the same positions they had held previously. While there were fears that the new owners would move operations away from Gosport those fears were unfounded, and the company is pleased to be able to preserve this popular local brewery in its current location. The investors wanted to see the brewery continue with the tradition it had created over the 16 years it was known as Oakleaf Brewery but also see it go from strength to strength under its new Fallen Acorn branding, which is great news not just for Gosport but for Hampshire as a whole.

The Oakleaf brewery's 'Hole Hearted' ale, purported to have been named after the Hole in the Wall pub in Southsea, is very popular with the Gosport locals and will continue to be brewed. The future of Gosport's landmark brewery looks bright and locals are extremely happy to know that it will remain in Gosport and will continue to brew the quality ales the locals have grown to expect from the brewery.

Best Beer Loving Cities in Britain

If you live in Britain or have visited many parts of Britain you will know just how spoiled Brits are for beer choices. Not just the tradition on-tap ales either. Britain has taken to craft beers like a duck takes to water, with micro-breweries popping up in almost every major city and town. Beer has always been a big deal in Britain but mainly with the men but now the ladies can enjoy beer just as much as their men folk.

Sheffield

Sheffield - A report out of Sheffield University claims that Sheffield is the new beer drinking capital of the world but it is very likely that many other cities would put up a fierce argument against that claim. That being said, Sheffield certainly has its share of great pubs and even greater breweries so both locals and visitors are assured of being able to partake of a fine ale (or three). Visitors are advised not to argue with the local's claim of being the best city in the world for beer unless prepared to get into a lengthy but friendly debate!

Leeds

Leeds - Once the proud home of the huge Tetley's brewery until 2012 when it closed and was demolished, Leeds is not short on great beers for the beer lover to enjoy. The 5th annual Leeds International Beer Festival will be held in September, and beer lovers will have the opportunity to sample beers both from the local area and from other countries. If you can't be in Leeds in September check out some of the local pubs because you are likely to find some international beers as well as local ones served there too.
